This piece expresses me as an artist because it reflects me and my life. It was my favorite piece to work on because of the personal connections. Also, the medium that was used, charcoal, is my favorite to work with because you can't mess up when using it. This has a personal link to me because on the leg it has a tattoo in Latin saying, "sisters forever" which is what my sister and I are planning to get. My definition of art has changed since the beginning of art class because at first I thought art was just painting and drawing. As the semester went on I learned that anything can be art and you can make anything with art. I never knew that I would learn how to weave in art because I didn't know that was considered to be art form, but when I weaved and put all the colors together, I saw the art come before my eyes. I found this project to be the hardest one I had to do in art class. I say this because it was really difficult to come up with an idea, but I also needed to solve a problem. I chose a beach theme, but I still didn't know what the problem would be. So I asked Mrs. Sudkamp and she gave me the idea to tape a paint brush to a meter stick and paint my piece from a meter away. If I am ever stuck on a project idea in the future, I could just ask my peers to help me generate ideas. I think that this is my most successful piece because the idea is really interesting. This was my two in one project so I had a spray bottle and the spray is the galaxy. To make the galaxy look like that, I started with blue and then kept mixing in black, and did the same with the purple. Then after I painted it I tried to mix it but still wanted the colors to look as if they were getting darker as the galaxy goes on. If I could redo any one on my pieces it would be this one because I don't like the idea of corks. I would chose something else to charcoal and take more time on my piece. I would still use charcoal but make sure that I had darker blacks and whiter whites.

I chose weaving because it was different than all the other projects and seemed really cool. I picked the printmaking because I saw my table mates doing it and it seemed really fun. The most challenging part of the project was the waving because it took me so long, also the matching up of the paper and the print for printmaking was very difficult. I think that is was successful but my piece were a little messy but sometimes mess makes art great. My pieces turned out the way I envisioned it. The words I picked were Paris, Eiffel Tower, and blue. I incorporated Paris by writing the letters in stamp, I added the Eiffel Tower using tape and a printout of the Eiffel Tower, and added blue in the tissue paper. In my opinion, it was successful because I could add all the words instead of doing one or two. The first layer is tissue paper using pinks, purples, and blues. The second layer is bubble wrap. I put black paint on the bubble wrap and put them where I wanted them to be. Next, I put tape on a print out of the Eiffel Tower and soaked it in water and tore the paper off. What I had left was the Eiffel Tower. The 4th layer is adding lines of tape to the side then painting any color of my choosing, white, and then after painting over them take them off. My fifth layer is lettered stamps. https://www.pinterest.com/janinefiorito/art-journaling/ I worked with Ben,Anna, and Alyissa. Anna took the pictures and Alyissa, Ben, and I took the pieces in and out , also we reset them to where they needed to be. I think that the video was successful because people could what is going on but our video is boring to watch. I would change the story line because it isn't interesting and I would also change the medium because after every picture we had to take all the sky out and then put them back in different positions which took a very long time. My limitation was taping a paint brush to one end of a meter stick and holding the other end to control and paint my piece. This was very hard because the meter stick didn't always go where I wanted it to. It was hard to hold it and paint something 3 feet away from me. Controlling the meter stick was very hard and sometimes it would get flimsy and paint a line somewhere where it wasn't supposed to be. I overcame these problems by taking my time and taking breaks when my arm would get weak. Surprisingly, it was easier to control the meter stick with one hand to paint my piece instead of using two hands. I learned how to shape clay and make different pieces stick together. I also learned what the various clay tools are used for. In my opinion, I think this piece was successful because it really looks like a turtle. My favorite part of this piece are the legs because they look like a real turtle's legs, with the wrinkles on the knees. If I were to do this project again, I would try to do a better job painting it and I would add more detail to the shell. Inspiration for ideas is feeding off other people's concepts and making it our own, or inspiration is looking at the people and things around you and coming up with an idea. Stealing an idea is taking someone's inspiration and using all of their thoughts and suggestions. In my opinion, I think that it is completely okay for someone to take a part of someones else's idea and change it, or give them credit because you aren't stealing it - you are using it and giving credit where it is due. In my final piece, I wanted to combine a spray can and the galaxy because I really wanted to paint the galaxy. I chose to use a spray can because I thought it would be really cool if it could spray the entire universe. I used paint for a medium because I was thinking about what would look most realistic for a galaxy. I really like working with paint because I could make a variety of different colors. If I could change one thing about my piece I would change the stars and make the universe more shiny. In my opinion the most successful part is the colors in the galaxy and how they combine and fade. In this project, we had to work on perspective. In this photo a boy is sniffing flowers. I really like this photo because you can clearly tell what he is trying to do and what the photographer is trying to show you. This project was really fun and a challenge. I say that because we need to think of props and ways we could them for perspective. It was also a challenge because we had to get the right angle on the camera and have the prop in the exact right place. If we do the project again, I would like to use more than one person in a picture.
